ExtendSim 8 was released July 2010, replacing ExtendSim 7.

You should be able to use ExtendSim 8 to run your models. There are only three reasons you would need to use the ExtendSim 7 Demo-Player to run models:

1 If your models use the Industry capability that was present in release 7 and earlier. The Industry Legacy libraries (Flow, Items(DB), and SDI Tools), as well as the Industry database, are NOT included in release 8.
2 If ExtendSim 8 has not yet been approved for use by your company or organization.
3 If your instructor at your university is still using ExtendSim 7 and has specifically requested you use release 7.

Note: If the model you wish to view was built in ExtendSim 8, you must use the ExtendSim 8 Demo to view it. It will not run in the ExtendSim 7 Demo-Player or earlier versions of Extend.

Why do you need to use the ExtendSim 7 Demo-Player rather than ExtendSim 8?

If you are using Norton, ZoneAlarm, or other firewalls, your system may not authorize access to the Player files and you will be forwarded to our home page. You can choose to temporarily lower the settings or disable your firewall (Windows XP users: click here for details on how to disable your firewall). Or you may choose to contact us to obtain a CD.
