Becoming an ExtendSim Adopter offers educators at accredited institutions the opportunity to teach simulation utilizing the full capabilities of ExtendSim — at no charge. After all, it only makes sense for schools to give students a competitive edge by teaching with the same products they will use once they graduate. Once approved as an ExtendSim Adopter, Imagine That Inc. will provide:

		An ExtendSim Academic Network License to the approved department at no charge. (Like the ExtendSim Network license, the ExtendSim Academic Network License deploys full functionality of the ExtendSim Suite tool to users on a network, but is limited to non-commercial use.)
		Students from the approved department the opportunity to purchase a limited version of ExtendSim ("ExtendSim LT") for their non-networked use for $25 -- a 75% discount. Note: This 75% discount on downloads of the LT is only available to students in North America.

Accredited institutions where the primary focus is on educating students are eligible to apply for ExtendSim Adopter status. Institutions that support external systems, such as technology institutes, non- or for-profit hospitals, for-profit schools, for-profit labs, or think tanks, are not eligible for Adopter status.

To become an ExtendSim Adopter, we require:

	1	University and college/department name, address, and URL
	2	Primary contact name, phone, email address
	3	Contact information for other professors and/or graduate students in your department who will also use the software
	4	Name of course in which ExtendSim is being taught – please submit course syllabus
	5	The number of seats (up to a max of 100 seats) and platform (Windows or Macintosh) for the Academic Network License.
	6	A copy of the course syllabus for each semester you use the Academic Network License.
	7	At the end of each semester, we require a brief summarization of how ExtendSim was used in the course and the benefits attained through its use (which may or may not be published by ITI)
	8	A link from the Adopter's web site to the ExtendSim web site.
	9	License must be re-approved on a yearly basis to maintain Adopter status.

Use of the Academic Network License is restricted to the college/department using the license for teaching purposes and have been approved ExtendSim Adopters. This license is not to be used for commercial purposes, such as research that is subsidized by a private or government enterprise.* Only currently enrolled students and professors within that college/department are authorized to use the Academic Network License.

If you choose to not become an ExtendSim Adopter, you may still purchase Academic Network Licenses at the cost of $125/seat with a minimum purchase of a 5-station license. There is a $25/seat annual renewal associated with this license as well.

*Projects are typically considered non-commercial if the simulation results are made publicly available. If some type of financial benefit results from simulation, fairly, you should pay market value. Academic software may not be used for commercial, professional, commercial training, or other for-profit purposes. Such uses are in violation of the ExtendSim License Agreement and could affect your status as an Adopter.

Single User licenses for Education are exactly the same as the Single User Enterprise/Government package, but offered to educators at a discounted price.

Software licensed to educational institutions under Single user license is restricted to use in connection with on-campus computing facilities and solely in support of classroom instruction. The right to use the Software for any other purposes, including commercial purposes, is explicitly prohibited.

Like the Enterprise/Government Singer User License, the Single User license for Education includes:

	Licensing Each ExtendSim Single User license for Education is designed to be utilized by a single user on a single computer. 	Support After a 60 day complimentary support period, assistance from our support staff is available either under an annual Maintenance Plan or on a Per-Incident basis. Technical assistance for installation questions or bug reports related to the current release is complimentary.

Intent of Use Letter -- A signed letter on university letterhead stating ExtendSim will be used by a professor teaching a course, a student using the software in that course, or a student using ExtendSim for research toward an advanced degree must be submitted with your order to qualify for academic pricing.

A network license of ExtendSim allows a specified number of simultaneous ExtendSim users in a network environment to access the full version of ExtendSim Suite for instructional purposes. Software may be installed on up to the permitted number of computers within the educational institution.

Software licensed to educational institutions as a network license is restricted to use in connection with on-campus computing facilities and solely in support of classroom instruction. An ExtendSim network license may NOT be used for commercial or consulting purposes or by those who are not current students or professors. Use over the internet is prohibited. There are two types of Network Licenses for Education: Academic Network and Site Licenses. Both include the ExtendSim Maintenance Plan. As they are custom licenses, orders must be placed directly with Imagine That Inc. or your local ExtendSim reseller.

Academic Network License
Local Area Concurrent User License for Educational Use

	Pricing Price is $125 per station. Minimum purchase is 5 stations. The Academic Network License is provided at no charge to universities approved under the ExtendSim Adopter program. Adopters are licensed on an annual basis and must reapply annually to maintain Adopter status.
	Licensing An ExtendSim Academic Network License operates over a local area network (LAN) in which all users share the same subnet. It must be installed on either individual computers that are networked together (recommended installation) within one subnet or on one server that is on the same subnet as the computers that will access ExtendSim. Unlike the corporate ExtendSim Network License, licenses may not be checked out from the server with the the Academic Network License. For example, if your university's computer lab has 50 computers in it, you would purchase a 50-station Academic Network License. This would enable all 50 computers to access ExtendSim over the lab's LAN.

Wide Area Network License for Educational Use

	Pricing Site Licenses are priced at $5000 per server installation. An annual Maintenance Plan is included with the purchase of a Site License offering technical assistance and upgrades to newer versions. The Maintenance Plan must be renewed on an annual basis at a cost of $1000 per year (20% of the cost of a new license at the time of renewal). The renewal fee is due on the anniversary date of purchase. (Policy on late or lapsed Maintenance.)
	Licensing The ExtendSim Site License for Education allows up to 200 students to access the full version of ExtendSim over the Site's server concurrently. (A "Site" is defined by where the license is installed; e.g. a School of Business is classified as a Site.) A single central server must be used as the License Server. The university is required to regulate the license and its school/campus-wide distribution. The Site License may be used by any student or professor anywhere at the Site as long as they have access to the server. These licenses may not be checked out from the server.
	Documentation Electronic versions of each manual is included. Printed manuals may be purchased separately at a cost of $15 for the User Guide and ExtendSim 8 Addendum for students and professors. Upgrades to new releases of ExtendSim featuring extensive new features and functionality are offered approximately every two years. You may either subscribe to an annual Maintenance Plan and receive the upgrades as they are released or purchase an upgrade directly.

Updates are offered as a free download to all registered ExtendSim licensees. An update is a release that corrects an existing problem in the software or makes functional adjustments to its features.

ExtendSim LT is a limited version of ExtendSim that has more saving and printing capability than the Demo version and allows you to run models of any size for an unspecified time period. It is designed for:

	Students building small (75 blocks or less) models for classwork.
	Potential customers who are evaluating the ExtendSim line of products and need more capability than the free Demo version.
	Customers who don’t have ExtendSim but want to use models built by others.

The ExtendSim LT application has many capabilities. For example, when you launch ExtendSim, the Getting Started control panel model gives you quick and easy access to recently opened models, starting a new model, viewing example models, videos with cool modeling tips, and more. With ExtendSim LT you can:

	Explore the features and capabilities of the four ExtendSim products (ExtendSim Suite, ExtendSim AT, ExtendSim OR, and ExtendSim CP)
	Learn and use ExtendSim capabilities such as 3D animation, linking to internal databases for data storage and management, optimization, hierarchy, the built-in authoring environment, activity-based costing, and scenario management.
	Build and save small models (75 blocks or less), or make changes to existing small models (75 blocks or less), for a limited time (180 days).
	Run models of any size, change parameters, view simulation results, and save the changes. This capability does not expire.
	Create new blocks and save them in libraries.
	Print model worksheets, block dialogs, and so forth.

However, there are some limitations:

	The models you build are limited to a maximum of 75 blocks.
	The model-building capability expires 180 days after installation. (Note: model-running capability does not expire.)
	You may not use scripting or ActiveX automation to run or construct a model
	There is no upgrade path and technical support is limited to installation questions.

Licensing

ExtendSim LT is licensed for your personal use on a single computer (or on one work computer of the Authorized User and on one home or portable computer of the Authorized User.) It is covered by a License Agreement that restricts its use, deployment, and distribution. Among other restrictions, unless you have obtained the prior written consent of Imagine That Inc. you may not allow others to access the use or functionality of ExtendSim LT, nor include the LT on a CD or any other media. ExtendSim LT may be downloaded from the ExtendSim Store for $100 (certain exclusions apply). Discounts for students and educators are available:

The ExtendSim Demo application has many capabilities.
